Coordinator Multimedia Center

        The University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks candidates for the position of Coordinator, Multimedia Center.  As the largest public academic research library in Massachusetts, we are a key partner in teaching, learning, and research at UMass Amherst and in the Commonwealth. By combining the latest information technology with excellent public service, the staff builds and maintains a rich information environment, facilitates access to it, and creates a place that functions as a hub of campus and community scholarly activity.  Provide energetic, innovative, and user-focused leadership and coordination of staff and services of the UMass Amherst Multimedia Center in the W.E.B. Du Bois Library. In collaboration with the Office of Information Technologies, the Head of Undergraduate Teaching & Learning Services and the Provost’s Learning Commons Committee, develop and implement a Multimedia Center, including the service model. Collaborate with campus and library service providers to ensure the highest quality services.  Serve as leader of the Multimedia Center and act as the liaison to interested parties on campus, actively seeking out opportunities for new partnerships with University groups providing student multimedia support and programming on campus.   Support all multimedia functions; training, production and support in the Center. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in library science – or equivalent degree – from a program accredited by the American Library Association, or its appropriate equivalent in librarianship from another country, or have appropriate equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum 2 years successful management and leadership experience with demonstrated commitment to mentoring, training, and staff development in an academic multimedia production or comparable environment.
  3. Minimum 3 years experience in multimedia production, including software, hardware and multimedia project planning and editing. A personal portfolio of high quality multimedia work created by the candidate is preferred, including for example audio/visual materials, instructional design, interactive presentations, web content, podcasts, or other technology-related projects.
  4. Current experience and working technical knowledge of multimedia hardware and software, as well as standard operating systems and common productivity tools such as multimedia production hardware and software, including for example Final Cut Pro, Avid, Adobe Creative Suite, Garage Band, iMovie, digital video cameras, production lighting kits, and audio recording equipment. Must have demonstrated experience with linear and non-linear editing platform and motion graphics platform.
  5. Demonstrated experience in development and delivery of instructional materials and training on using technology in a classroom setting.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in video pre-production, production, and post-production workflows.
  7. Strong commitment to public service and proven ability to work effectively with a diverse and multicultural population of University students, faculty and staff.
  8. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly in presentations.
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to foster a collegial work environment that encourages change and innovation; and ability to interact effectively and work productively, collegially, cooperatively, and collaboratively with a variety of individuals and groups in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
  10. Ability to view issues from a campus wide perspective, foster teamwork, and stimulate cross-functional collaboration.
  11. Ability to work a schedule, which includes evening weekend, and holiday hours.
