James Craig Elected to MLS Board

UMASS AMHERST LIBRARIES ANNOUNCE
LIBRARIAN JAMES L. CRAIG ELECTED TO MLS BOARD
Amherst, MA - James L. Craig, Biological Sciences and Instructional Services Librarian for the Science and Engineering Library at UMass Amherst, was named to the Continuing Education and Advisory Services Committee of the Massachusetts Library System (MLS). A state funded organization, MLS provides services to more than 1,700 Massachusetts libraries of all types and sizes throughout the Commonwealth.
Craig has recently been elected to serve on several other boards and committees for both professional and service organizations.
Craig was named to the Executive Board of the newly formed Western Massachusetts Library Advocates or WMLA, formerly WMRLS (Western Massachusetts Regional Library System). Craig also serves as a co-chair of the Education Committee, and is a member of the By-laws Committee, as well as the Membership Committee of the WMLA, which promotes library services and librarianship in all of the libraries in the four western counties of Massachusetts.
Craig was named to the Educational Committee of the North Atlantic Health Sciences Libraries, Inc., which is a chapter of the Medical Library Association.
Craig was named to a third two-year term on the board of WestMass ElderCare, which provides services to elders in Belchertown, Chicopee, Granby, Holyoke, Ludlow, South Hadley, and Ware. Craig serves on the board’s Training Committee and is a chair of the By-laws Committee. During his time, he has helped to bring UMass Amherst Faculty to the agency to provide in-service training to the professional staff.
