UMass Amherst Writing Center Hosts Open House March 6

Amherst, MA - The UMass Amherst Writing Center invites students, faculty, and staff to an Open House in the newly renovated space on Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Writing Center is located in the Learning Commons, on the Lower Level of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library in the northwest corner.

The event will include a day of activities, workshops, coffee, and conversation:

Graduate Student Write-In, 9am-11am: Graduate students will be given two hours of focused writing time in a quiet, distraction-free space. Bring your writing project and a laptop and the Writing Center will provide the space and coffee to accomplish your day’s writing goals.

Writers’ Block Party, 11am-12pm: This workshop provides strategies for moving beyond writers block; getting a writing project started, resisting procrastination, and making progress on long writing projects. All are welcome.

Writing Center Open House, 12pm-2pm: Tutors and directors will be present to discuss programs and practices and answer questions. The campus community is invited. Refreshments will be served.
