AUTHORITY WORKFLOW ARISING FROM REVISIONS TO BIBLIOGRAPHIC RECORDS

1. Revisions through OCLC -- In these cases, a new CAT DATE will be created and the records will be extracted and sent to BNA for processing.  Follow the procedures in Authority Workflow for Contributed Cataloging, etc.

2. Revisions in Innopac -- Revisions to bibliographic records involving headings should be authorized by a Cataloger or by the Authority Unit and can be made either by the Authority Unit or by the Record Corrections Coordinators.

A Cataloger requesting a record correction involving a new or changed heading should indicate on the record correction form whether or not there is an authority record for that form of the heading in Innopac.

If a new heading or a new form of a heading is used that does not have an authority record already in Innopac, the CAT DATE in the bibliographic record should be changed to the current date.  The change in CAT DATE will put the bibliographic record in the next extract sent to BNA for authority processing.

If there is not an authority record on OCLC, and one is required for Innopac, then a new authority record must be keyed in by a cataloger or member of the Authority Unit, following the procedures in  Authority Workflow for Contributed Cataloging, etc., section II. B.
