BOOKS CATALOGED TO MORRILL, MUSIC, OR PHYSICAL SCIENCES GOING TO RESERVE IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION
Sometimes, a book is sent to Reserve at one location, but according to the AA chart, its classification number would place it in another location (e.g., classification number would normally go to Morrill, but book has been ordered for Phys. Sci. Reserve). Morrill, Music and Physical Sciences Libraries have requested that in such cases the book be cataloged to the correct AA location but sent to the Reserve location for which it was ordered. Because of Morrill's space problems, if there is any question about whether a title to be cataloged to Morrill would be wanted in that collection, the Cataloger/Cataloging Assistant should contact the Administrative Coordinator for the Biological Sciences Library (Larry Feldman).Top of page
On the order slip, the library notes area will contain the information that the book is to be sent to a Reserve location. Catalogers and Cataloging Assistants should assume that the book will be cataloged AA unless the Reserve location also appears on the order slip in the area containing the location to which the title is to be cataloged. For example, if a book is ordered for Phys. Sci. Reserve but should be cataloged AA, "uaaa" would appear in the "catalog to" area; if the book were also to be cataloged to Phys. Sci., "uap" would be in the "catalog to" area; if the book were to be cataloged to Morrill, "uab" would be in the "catalog to" area.
A form (sample attached; available in the Information Processing Department) should be sent by the Cataloger/Cataloging Assistant to the Head of the branch library to which a book is cataloged when that book will be sent to Reserve in a different location.
