The library subscribes to a small range of print East Asian language journals to support teaching and research needs of our faculty and students. There are also a number of journals that are no longer currently received but we have long runs of back issues or purchased facsimile reproductions of the entire set. All of our holdings are listed in the library catalog, but browsing lists are also available for current subscriptions and fascimile reports to make it easier for you.
Chinese: UMass faculty and students have access to the full-text journals in the Literature/History/Philosophy section of China Academic Journal. You may search and see citations to articles that fall outside the Humanities section, but will need to request the articles through interlibrary loan.
Japanese: UMass does not have any subscriptions to Japanese e-journals, but some of the free ones are available through the CiNii database. These tend to be society journals (gakkaishi) and university bulletins (kiyo). These titles are also listed in the library catalog.
Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery: Please do not hesitate to request articles through interlibrary loan. Most will be scanned and available to you as pdf files. We regularly request materials from China and Japan for our users.
