Image Collection Library
General Overview
The Image Collection Library (ICL) assists faculty and students in the transition from analog to digital image technology in the classroom and provides digital image resources for the UMass Amherst campus community.
We provide access to image databases and teach image discovery techniques for our users.
We provide consultation and assistance for faculty members who maintain their own image collections.
The ICL acquires images in all subjects and disciplines for our own image databases. To date our primary focus has been the Arts and the Humanities, but we welcome the opportunity to work with any department on campus.
Who can use the ICL?
ICL services are available for use by any person in the UMass Amherst campus community.
Faculty members, staff, and students may use the image databases and consultation services offered by the ICL. Faculty members and instructors may request access to some of the more advanced features of the image databases to help prepare and present images.
Faculty members and instructors may also request the creation of Personal Collections to hold their own images that they use for teaching or research.
