What are periodicals and articles?
Journals and magazines are types of periodicals.
A periodical refers to material that is published at regular intervals such as:
- Daily
- Weekly
- Monthly
- Quarterly

Specific examples of periodicals include:
- General Interest Magazines
- Scholarly Journals
- Industry and Trade Magazines
- Newsletters
- Newspapers
- Zines
|
Articles found in periodicals have some basic characteristics in common compared with books:
- They are relatively short in length,
- Generally address more specific topics
- Especially valued for providing current information.
Despite these similarities, journal and magazine articles serve different purposes.
