Choosing a Database of Journal Articles

For more detailed information about why to use a journal (or periodical) article, see the first two pages of the "Finding Articles from Journals and Magazines" section of the "Getting Started" tutorial.

Databases serve as the indexes, or directories, to journal articles and other information. Sociological Abstracts is a great database to start with to search for journal articles for Sociology.

To select your database go to the Library's Database Locator and choose:

  1. Find databases by subject
  2. Social Science
  3. Sociological Abstracts.
