W.E.B. DU BOIS LIBRARY
ADDS CELL PHONE BOOTHS, LOCKERS, AND QUIET STUDY SPACE
Amherst, MA – The W.E.B. Du Bois Library has recently installed cell phone booths, lockers for short-term use, and additional quiet study space.
The first Cell Zone™ was installed during the summer in the Learning Commons on the Lower Level. Three additional cell phone booths have now been added, one each on the Lower Level, Floor 2, and Floor 3. Cell Zones™ look similar to phone booths and offer students a quiet environment where they can place and receive cell phone calls without disturbing others.
The lockers are on Floors 2, 3, 7 and 10. The lockers are for short-term use while in the Library to store valuables. Users insert a quarter and receive it back when they retrieve their belongings. Library users are advised to keep their valuables with them at all times or stored safely in the lockers.
The Library created an additional quiet study space on Floor 3 with new work stations, comfortable chairs, carpeting, and new paint similar to the quiet study on Floor 2.
