NEWS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                 DATE: 11/10/06 CONTACT: LESLIE SCHALER, COMMUNICATIONS ASST., (413) 545-0162 UMASS AMHERST LIBRARIES FRIENDS LIST GOES ONLINE   Amherst, Ma – From July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006, over 6,000 donors helped the UMass Amherst Libraries raise over $1.1 million dollars.  A complete listing of all 6,344 donors and their 7,292 gifts is now online at http://www.library.umass.edu/friends/donors.html.  Honoring the generosity of library donors has traditionally been a function of the Friends of the Libraries newsletter.  Last year the listing of some 5,000 donors required twenty pages with five columns of small print.  This year the Library is listing donors on the web to save printing costs (which donors would otherwise pay for).  In early fall the UMass Amherst Libraries introduced a new web site.  The design includes a changing array of news features, images, and content areas specifically for students, community members, faculty, people with disabilities, and distance learners.  The new site can be viewed at http://www.library.umass.edu/index.html.  For more information about giving to the UMass Amherst Libraries, contact Emily Silverman at (413) 545-0995 or friends@library.umass.edu or go to http://www.library.umass.edu/friends/index.html.
