NEWS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                       DATE: 11/22/06 CONTACT: LESLIE SCHALER, COMMUNICATIONS ASST., (413) 545-0162 JEFFERY AMHERST BOOKSHOP HOLDS FOURTH ANNUAL BENEFIT FOR THE UMASS AMHERST LIBRARIES SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9   ~ 10% of proceeds will be donated to the UMass Amherst Libraries ~ Amherst, Mass. – The Jeffery Amherst Bookshop & College Store will donate 10% of its proceeds on Saturday, December 9, 2006, to the UMass Amherst Libraries.  Located at 55 South Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA, the bookshop will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on December 9.  Shoppers receive personal customer service at this independent bookseller and free gift wrapping for the holidays.  Phone, fax, and email orders count toward the fundraiser too.  For book lovers, library lovers, and holiday shoppers, this is an ideal way to support local business and the area’s only public research library while making holiday purchases.  Shoppers will enjoy free library-themed gifts and prizes. The UMass Amherst Libraries are open to all.  Borrowing privileges are granted to adult residents of Massachusetts and to secondary students under 18 years old.  The proceeds from this event will help enhance library facilities and provide patrons with the best information resources and services possible.
