LEARNING COMMONS IN DU BOIS LIBRARY
OPEN 24/5 BEGINNING NOVEMBER 27

Amherst , MA – Effective, Sunday, November 27, 2005, the Learning Commons on the main floor of the Du Bois Library will begin staying open 24 hours a day, five days a week. The hours will be Sunday 11:00 a.m. to Friday 9 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The hours of the café, Procrastination Station, will be expanded to Sunday 11:00 a.m. – Midnight , Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 a.m. , Friday 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. , Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 pm.
The new 23,000 square-foot Learning Commons contains 164 work stations, 400 laptop ports, 16 email kiosks, and 13 rooms for group study. An innovative space in the heart of campus, the Learning Commons is a gathering place for studying, engaging in research, and learning in collaborative, technology-rich settings. In addition to reference and research assistance, students have access to technical support, writing assistance, advising, and tutoring.
