“THE ENDURING GREATNESS OF THE SOULS OF BLACK FOLKS” 

~ A talk by Robert Hill ~ 

Amherst , Mass. – Robert A. Hill, Professor in the Department of History & African Studies at UCLA, will give a talk on “The Enduring Greatness of the Souls of Black Folks” on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at 4:30 p.m. in the W.E.B. Du Bois Library. The talk will take place in Special Collections and University Archives on Floor 25.

The event celebrates Du Bois' birthday, February 23rd. The Library marks Du Bois' birthday each year with a special event.

Professor Hill has been at UCLA since 1977 where he estab­lished and is the Editor-in-Chief of The Marcus Garvey and Universal Negro Im­prove­ment Association Papers Project, within the James S. Coleman African Studies Center . Professor Hill has served as an important member of several advisory committees for various ­docu­mentary pro­jects, in­cluding the W.E.B. Du Bois Film Project and The Martin Luther King, Jr. Papers Project.

He was executive consultant in the making of the film, Marcus Garvey: Look for Me in the Whirlwind and he is the author of numerous essays and books. Professor Hill is also the editor of two forthcoming volumes— The Rastafari Bible: JAH Version and Lion Zion : Marcus Garvey and the Jews.
