SciFinder

SciFinder provides search interfaces to Chemical Abstracts CAPlus, several related chemical database files (chemical names, commercial availability, chemical reactions), and MEDLINE. For a detailed description of SciFinder and help, go to: SciFinder Scholar.

You can now access SciFinder via the Web, as well as with the Scholar client. Through either means, the UMass Amherst Libraries is limited to 6 simultaneous users.

Please Logoff when finished using SciFinder to free a connection for someone else.

SciFinder Web

If you have registered for a Web account, go directly to SciFinder to login with your username and password.

SciFinder requires that you register as a new user, agree to terms of use, and maintain your own username and password account.

Register for an account

NOTE: You must use your UMass Amherst email address to register successfully.

A guide through the registration process is available.

SciFinder Scholar Download Information:

GO DIRECTLY TO THE SCIFINDER SCHOLAR ICON if you already have the SciFinder client installed on your computer.

If you want to access SciFinder Scholar from a library PC, it must be one with the SciFinder Scholar icon available. Please ask at the Reference Desk if you need assistance.

IMPORTANT: Due to licensing restrictions, SciFinder will only work on a computer with a UMass Amherst Internet address. A dial-up account from OIT will provide off-campus users with a UMass Amherst Internet address.
