Partnering for Quality Service
The Learning Commons is maintained through a collaborative effort between several offices and programs on the UMass Amherst Campus. The contributions and perspectives from these partners continues to provide a well-rounded and holistic view of the academic needs of the undergraduate community.
University Libraries Mission
As a gateway to knowledge, the Libraries are a key partner in teaching, learning, and research at UMass Amherst. Supporting freedom of inquiry, the Libraries foster a diverse and inclusive environment in which to engage with ideas and acquire the critical skills necessary for life-long learning. By combining the latest information technology with excellent public service, the staff guides and maintains a rich information environment, facilitates access to it, and creates a hub of campus and community scholarly activity.
Information Technology (IT)
The Learning Commons support at the Learning Commons and Technical Support Desk consists of a collaborative model comprising of the Libraries, IT User Services, and IT Computer Classrooms.
The Assistive Technologies Center, run by IT Computer Classrooms, is an important service located in the Learning Commons.
Academic Programs and Services
Students in the Learning Commons have access to an array of services including advising, peer tutoring, writing assistance, international studies, and immediate access to subject-specific librarians.
