Physical Course Materials

Find an item's call number before coming to the desk (video tutorial coming soon).

Physical reserve materials can include library owned books, journals and scores, as well as audiovisual materials and instructor supplied copies of textbooks and class notes.

  • Material will be available for checkout for 3 hours from the Circulation Reserves desk, located in the Learning Commons on the Lower Level of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library, whenever the library is open. Please return all reserve items to the same desk.
  • Reserve material can be taken overnight only when checked out within 3 hours of closing (on Fridays and Saturdays during the academic year) and is then due back within 1 hour of opening the next day.
  • You may renew items in person only, as long as they aren't being requested by other patrons.

Reserve items are subject to fines of $10/hour or fraction thereof, up to a maximum of $150. If a reserve item is overdue long enough, a replacement bill of $200 will be due.  If the item is returned, the replacement and processing charges are waived, leaving an overdue fine of $150 and a non-refundable billing fee of $10. Fines will be billed through the Bursar's Office

To appeal a reserve fine, please fill out the Fines Appeal Form.
