Orphan Works

"Orphan works" refers to works that are presumed to be copyrighted, but whose copyright owner cannot be located. In some instances, the works may actually be public domain, but insufficient information is known about them to know their copyright terms. In other instances, the works are still within their copyright term, but the copyright holder is unknown or cannot be located.
