As stewards of the Papers of W.E.B. Du Bois, the Department of Special Collections and University Archives feels a unique obligation to promote engagement with the ideas and legacy of one of America’s foremost intellectuals and one its most powerful advocates for social justice. Through Digital Du Bois, the Department offers access to a variety of electronic resources, including selections of Dr. Du Bois’s writings, exhibits about his life and times, scans of photographs, and links to resources at other institutions.
Several of Du Bois’ published works that have passed into the public domain are made available below in pdf format. These books and articles represent only a small fraction of Du Bois’s writing, but give a taste of his early concerns and future directions. Several of these files are large and on slower connections, may take some time to download.
