Create new page

To avoid creating a new page for a topic that already exists, review the site's index or search the site for the article you are seeking. If the page does not exist, we invite you to create it by following the steps below.

When adding new pages to DuBoisopedia, we ask users to add them to the “articles” category under the appropriate letter of the alphabet so that they sort properly. There are some general rules to follow for ensuring that the pages sort alphabetically. One, for titles of works that begin with an initial article (ex. a, an, the), file them under the first letter of the second word. Two, for personal names, file them under the first letter of the individual's last name (ex. Smith, Harriet). If you have questions about where or how to file a new article, please contact SCUA archivists for assistance.

  1. Search for the category and page you would like to create. For example, if you would like to add a page for Atlanta University to be filed within the articles category under the letter “a”, you would enter “articles:a:atlanta university” in the search box.
  2. Review the list of search entries, and if no page exists, click on “Create this page” found in the lower right-hand corner.
  3. Enter a title for the new page at the top (to format the title according to our best practices, highlight the entire text and click on the “H1” button from the editing menu). Keep in mind, the title you apply to the page will be the title added to the alphabetical index. Try to keep it brief, but meaningful. The entry will be sorted alphabetically in the index based on the first letter of the first word, so keep that in mind when selecting the title.
  4. Add your article.
  5. Click on “Save” at the bottom of the editing screen.
  6. Review your work.
