Special Collections & University Archives
The Department of Special Collections and University Archives selectively digitizes materials under its care, both to provide broader access for researchers and to help preserve fragile originals from continued handling, and increasingly, it receives materials that are were created in digital formats.
Credo, SCUA’s new online digital repository, is now publicly available as a beta site. Still under active development, Credo will eventually contain all permanent digital collections held by SCUA. As of June 2011, it currently contains over 42,000 items from the W.E.B. Du Bois Papers, including all of Du Bois’s general correspondence from 1877 through about 1940 and nearly 1,000 photographs. Visit Credo at http://credo.library.umass.edu/.
The links below direct researchers to a descriptive page for collections with digital content, from which we provide links to individual digital files. Video files are linked directly. With a few exceptions, the files on this site are provided either in pdf (texts), mp3 (audio), or wmv (video) format.
