“June Carnegie” scam. This fabricated incident alleges to show wealthy Philadelphia philanthropist, June Carnegie, giving Michael Metelica a check worth $20,000 to “further his religious work”. In fact, it was commune member who after this photo was taken, went off to her waitress job. An article with this photo ran on the front page of a very skeptical Greenfield Recorder newspaper, 1973.
