Company Directories - Identify Employers by Location, Type or Size

CorpTech Directory. Directory of American technology manufacturers, public or private. Custom indexing for product-level research.

Dun & Bradstreet's Million Dollar Database. Directory of 1,600,000 U.S. businesses with sales greater than $5 million or employee totals greater than 100.

ReferenceUSA. Directory of 12 million U.S. companies and nonprofit organizations. Link to parent or subsidiary.

Dun & Bradstreet Employment Opportunities Directory. Employment guide designed for college students. Lists job opportunities, hiring practices, training programs, benefits. In the DuBois Library Reference: Call # HF5382.5.U5.D86.

Company Reports - Employer History and Current Condition

Hoover's Company Profiles. Key facts about 13,500 public and private employers: line of business, officers, structure, revenues, competitors.

International Directory of Company Histories. 5,000 company histories. Part of the Business & Company Resource Center database (BCRC). Go to BCRC, click Advanced Search. Select "Histories".

Mergent Online. Financial reports on all public companies worldwide. Includes 15 years of balance sheet/income statement data.

Trade Journals - Articles about Employers

Business Source Premier. The largest full-text business journal database in the world. For employer research, use this search format: co Dell.

LexisNexis Academic. Search full-text national and regional daily newspapers. Use LexisNexis to locate information on smaller companies.

Industry Reports - Place Employer in an Industry Context

IBISWorld United States. Current industry reports on the past, current, and expected performance of every U.S. industry.

Encyclopedia of American Industries. U.S. and global industry reports. Part of the Business & Company Resource Center database (BCRC). Go to BCRC, click Advanced Search. Select "Industry Overviews".

Market Reports - Analyze an Employer Marketplace

Forrester Research. Technology and market research reports. Focus on technology marketing to consumers. Reports written for decision-makers.

Mintel Reports. Market reports focus on retail, travel, tourism, and food service companies and their markets.

MarketResearch.com Academic. Focus on business services, consumer goods, food and beverage, heavy industry, life sciences, technology, media.

Faulkner Advisory on IT Studies: FAITS. Study employers and markets in computer and communications industries.

Career Forecast Reports

Going Global Career Guides. International job seekers guide for 23 countries. Part of ABI/Inform Global. Go to ABI and type a search statement in this format: pub(Going Global) and geo(Japan).

Occupational Outlook Handbook. Binannual publication of the U.S. Dept. of Labor. Select occupational categories in the left column.

Career Guide to Industries. Focus on occupations within an industry - training, advancement, earnings, job prospects, working conditions.
