Database Scope
LexisNexis Academic provides full-text access to U.S. and foreign daily newspapers, trade journals, newsletters, news wires, radio/TV news transcripts, company financial reports, polls and surveys, state and country profiles, and state/federal laws and court decisions. Coverage: Generally from the early 1990s to present. Title List

General Search Tips

  • Select Categories. LexisNexis organizes all publications into categories. Set up effective searches by selecting publication categories from one or more drop-down menus.
  • Broaden or Narrow Searches. Search LexisNexis with keywords and phrases. Broaden or narrow your search by selecting search fields from the drop-down menu to the right of the search box.
  • Modify Date Range. The LexisNexis default date setting is for the current six months only. Expand the date range from the Date drop-down menu at the bottom of the search screen.
Step-by-Step Search Instructions.

Search LexisNexis by publication type, company report type, or research topic. LexisNexis defaults to the News search screen. Set up your LexisNexis searches from this screen. Click I Lexis I for database access.

By Publication Type:
Daily Newspapers (Major U.S. Cities). Select General News from the top drop-down menu and Major Papers from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
Daily Newspapers (Regional/Local). Select U.S. News from the top drop-down menu and a region or state from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
Daily Newspapers (Worldwide). Select World News Sources from the top drop-down menu and a world region from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
College Newspapers. Select University News from the top drop-down menu and University Wire from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
Trade Journals. Select Business News from the top drop-down menu and Industry News from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
News Wire Services. Select News Wires from the top drop-down menu and All Wires from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
TV/Radio Broadcast Transcripts. Select News Transcripts from the top drop-down menu and select All Transcripts or a specific broadcast media outlet from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
Newsletters. Select General News from the top-drop down menu and Newsletters from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I

By Research Topic:

Company News. Select Business News from the top drop-down menu and Business & Finance or Mergers and Acquisitions from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
Industry News. Select Business News from the top drop-down menu and Industry News from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
Accounting News and Documents. Click Business in the left column. Next, click Accounting under the Accounting Literature category. Then select a publication from the Source drop-down menu. I Lexis I
Hospitality News. Click Business in the left column. Next, click Industry & Market News under the News category. Then select Travel, Hospitality, & Leisure News from the Industry drop-down menu. I Lexis I
Legal News. Select Legal News from the top drop-down menu. You do not need to set the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
Medical News. Select Medical News from the top drop-down menu. You do not need to set the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
Sports News. Select Arts & Sports News from the top drop-down menu and Sports News from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I
University News. Select University News from the top drop-down menu and University Wire from the second drop-down menu. I Lexis I

By Company Report Type:

Annual Reports to Shareholders. Click Business in the left column. Next, click SEC Filings & Reports under Company Information. Then select SEC Annual Reports from the Source drop-down menu. I Lexis I
Company Financial Reports. Click Business in the left column. Next, click Company Financial Reports under Company Information. Then select Disclosure or Stock Reports (Nelsons, Vickers, Zacks) from the Source drop-down menu. I Lexis I
SEC Filings (10K, Proxy, Prospectus, etc.). Click Business in the left column. Next, click SEC Filings & Reports under Company Information. Then select an SEC document from the Source drop-down menu. I Lexis I
