The reference collection is organized A to Z by call number. Individual country encyclopedias and handbooks are located at the DA to DX call number range. Browse this section, or use the Library catalog to locate specific titles and call numbers. In addition to the country books located in the DA to DX call number range, these encyclopedias and handbooks provide excellent overviews of a country's culture and business practices.

  • Countries and their Cultures. Call # Ref. GN307.C68. The best first place to look for country culture information. Each country report includes sections on country demographics, ethnic relations, food and economy, social stratification, political life, gender roles, socialization, etiquette, religion, and the arts.

  • Dun & Bradstreet's Guide to Doing Business around the World. Call # Ref. HF1416.M78. Provides five cultural tips for each country.

  • Encyclopedia of World Cultures. Call # Ref. GN307.E53. Organized by cultural group name, not country.

  • Exporters' Encyclopaedia. Call # Ref. HF3011.E9. Dun & Bradstreet annual exporting guide. Current country profiles, demographics, communications systems, key contacts, and export documentation.

  • Global Road Warrior: 95-Country Resources for the International Business Communicator and Traveler. Call # Ref. G156.5.B86.G56 2001. Covers every aspect of business travel - including greetings, courtesies, business ethics, decision-making, treatment of women, conducting business, and business attire.

  • Price Waterhouse "Doing Business in" Series. Call # Ref. HG5152.D64. Individual books for each county.

  • Rules of the Game: Global Business Protocol. Call # Ref. HF5389.L43. Country profiles are located in chapter ten.

  • Worldmark Encyclopedia of Cultures and Daily Life. Call # Ref. GN333.W67. Organized by cultural group. Country index at end of volume.

Comprehensive reports on the latest economic, political, and market conditions in countries worldwide. Country Reports highlight major business events, analyze recent political and economic developments, provide economic and trade data and give a political and economic outlook for the next 12-18 months.

ISI Emerging Markets
News, company and industry reports, macroeconomic statistics and forecasts from 35 emerging market countries in Asia, Latin America, and Central and Eastern Europe.

Mergent Online
Comprehensive listing of facts and statistics for countries worldwide. Search Tip: Select a country from the country drop-down menu at the right of the search screen.

Business and Company Resource Center
Over 10 million articles from 1,000 journals, plus company profiles, corporate histories, investment reports, press releases, market share rankings, industry surveys, and links to key trade associations. Coverage from 1980 to present.

Step-by-Step Search Instructions:

  1. Connect to the Business and Company Resource Center, then click the Articles Icon.
  2. Type a country name in the Search Term box and click the green search button.
  3. Locate your country's subject heading, then click the Narrow by Subdivision button.
  4. Review articles in all relevant subject subdivisions, including these key subject subdivisions:

ABI/Inform Global
Articles from 1,800 leading business and management journals published worldwide. Coverage from 1971 to present, plus 100 leading scholarly journals from the early 20th century to present.

Step-by-Step Search Instructions:

  1. Connect to ABI/Inform Global.
  2. In the first search box, type your country name and select Location from the drop-down menu.
  3. In the second search box, type this phrase: cross cultural studies, then select Subject from the drop-down menu.
  4. Also try these ABI/Inform subject heading one at a time in the Subject search box.
