Library Class Guide for Chinese 126

Online Resources for Learning Chinese

This guide has been compiled for students in Chinese 126 who are just beginning to study Chinese language. The web sites listed here are range from language learning to advanced studies. Each one is well maintained and provides good links to other resources. If you want to look beyond your textbook and practice your reading skills, these are good places to begin.

Integrated Chinese
This website is designed to supplement the textbook. There are sound files, picture files, and even some games.

Zhongwen.com: Chinese characters and culture
This is a wonderful site! You can learn Chinese characters, learn vocabulary, use online dictionaries, and use the recommended links for more exploring.

Mandarin Tools: On-line Chinese tools
Use the flashcards to practice your Chinese recognition. The Web Annotator allows you to read real Chinese web pages with the help of Pinyin. The computer programming done here is great.

Ocrat.com: Chinese language learning for English speakers
Can't remember stroke order? Check out the animated Chinese characters. See also the links for listening to Chinese over the internet.

Marjorie Chan's ChinaLinks
This is a site you will want to look at carefully if you decide to major in Chinese language and/or literature. She has links to everything from software to conferences.
