Books - Language, Literacy and Culture

I. Search for Books from UMass Library Catalog at http://www.library.umass.edu/cgi-bin/aka/babel.cgi?dokma=http://umlibr.library.umass.edu
  • You can limit the search by country, language, date, etc.
  • You can also type in other subject areas in theLibrary Catalog
    A. Broad Subject Searches. You can Search by Subject to see lists of library owned material on a topic.     For example, click on a subject heading below:


    B . Examples of Keywords in the Library Catalog

You can add cultures, peoples, other terms or countries to a search, i.e. language and latinos; second language acquisition and research; linguistics and teaching

II. Find Locations of Books (Most books and other materials on education reside in the 'L' section of the Library of Congress Classification system we use to organize materials by subject in the Libraries. The 'L's currently sit on the 20th floor of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library. The P's are on the 12th floor.
