  • Associations/Societies Associations and societies provide a wealth of information relevant to a discipline. Professional academic groups hold conferences, publish conference proceedings and keep members informed about upcoming activities. This kind of information helps students identify individual scholars in a field and their research interests. Papers delivered at professional conferences are often posted on these Web sites. They contain valuable research and may never appear in print.
  • Busy Teacher's Web Site Subdivided by subject area, including interactive Web projects and a teachers' reference section.
  • DiscoverySchool. com  Sections for students, teachers and parents. Also contains a link to Kathy Schrock's Guide (important educational Web sites).
  • Educational Resources for Massachusetts From the Department of Education. Hundreds of publications. Particular emphasis is given to reading and accountability, key components of President Bush's education plan, "No Child Left Behind".
  • Educator's Desk Reference A wonderful collaborative effort of education librarians to create one site of evaluated resources on Education. Includes some of the previous material sponsored by the ERIC/ASK ERIC sites.
  • EduHound Search engine for links related to K-12 education. You can browse an alphabetical index of keywords, browse a category index, or browse the lesson plan links. Also includes schools and classrooms on the Web.

  • ERIC Database Search Free SiteFederal Resources for Educational Excellence Teaching and learning resources from more than 35 federal agencies.
  • The Gateway Designed for teachers to type a topic, grade level, and other information into a search screen that then retrieves lessons, instructional units, and other free educational materials on that topic for that grade level. 
  • Glossary for Education Terms From greatschools.net. Search by keyword for educational terms. Also choose from categories to get key terms, background information, and links to other educational resources.
  • Internet Public Library A breakdown of various subject areas, including Education and Reference.
  • Internet Reseachers Toolbox A beginning place to look for information, in general, on the Internet.
  • Lesson Plans A separate page with many links.
  • Library in the Sky Database Currently there are over 1529 educational Web sites listed in the Library in the Sky. Search the entire database of resource links, or narrow your search to those Web sites that will most likely be of interest to you.
  • Massachusetts Department of Education For statistics and information relating to education in the State of Massachusetts
  • No Child Left Behind At this official Website, education professionals and parents will find answers to frequently asked questions, fact sheets, newsletters, statistics, tools, and other resources to help them understand and implement the "No Child Left Behind" legislation.
  • U.S. Department of Education For statistics, reports, documents, programs and material related to Education in the United States.
  • U.S. Network for Education Information An interagency and public/private partnership whose mission is to provide official information assistance for anyone seeking information about U.S. education and for U.S. citizens seeking authoritative information about education in other countries. Includes a search engine. 
  • Yahoo Education A directory of many categories of education sites on the internet.
