Energy and its many facets, from supply and consumption, costs, government policy, to alternative energy research and development, affects our lives more and more  each day.  This guide gathers and organizes government documents, Internet sites, and databases in order to provide  information to better understand the issues, facts, and statistics related to energy.

Online catalog of all federal goverment documents cataloged by the Government Printing Office (GPO) from 1976 to the present. Available to all users from the Library's public terminals. Only available off campus to members of the University community through their OIT account.
 
Monthly Catalog of U.S. Government Publications  (GPO Access) 
1994 to present.  Complete listing of all government documents issued through the Government Printing Office. Monthly with annual cumulations.

Bonneville Power Administration Publications 
Based in Portland, Oregon, BPA is part of the Department of Energy, and provides about one half the electricity used in the Northwest.  Publications include reports, alerts, fact sheets, and backgrounders.
 
Congressional Research Service (CRS) Reports  (University of North Texas Libraries)
Provides integrated, searchable access to many of the full-text CRS reports available at a variety of different Web sites since 1990. To locate reports, click on "Browse CRS reports," then click on "Energy."  Lists reports chronologically from the most recent.

Presents a statistical view of the supply and consumption of various forms of energy, a detailed analysis of trends and statistics on specific energy sources, and trends in energy efficiency.  Most data is compiled from Energy Information Administration sources.  

Global Climate Change: the Role of Energy Efficiency  2000  (Congressional Research Service)
Reviews the role of energy efficiency in federal policies to curb CO2 emissions. Discusses targets for CO2 reductions, energy efficiency impacts, and legislative proposals that would be supportive of energy efficiency programs.
