Government Documents

Many of the government documents related to English have to do with the teaching of the English language both to native speakers and to non-native speakers. There is much information on Limited English Proficient persons and policies to address their needs. There is also much information on English language policies and legislation, and some information on children's literature. Many documents about and from the National Endowment for the Humanities are included.

Government Documents are located on the 6th floor of W.E.B. Du Bois Library. For assistance and further information, contact the Reference Department, at 413-545-0150, or use one of our Ask a Librarian services.

Sample Government Documents Related to English

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but is meant to demonstrate the range of materials in Government Documents. Note: Government Documents use the Superintendent of Documents call number system, which is deferent from the Library of Congress's classification system that is used in other parts of the library.
