Government Information Research Guide

This site provides an entry point for all researchers, including undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty, to the resources related to government information in the UMass Amherst Libraries and on the Internet.

Government information covers almost every area of knowledge. There are over 750,000 volumes of paper, microfiche, CD-ROMs and videos in the Government Documents Collection. The Library Catalog lists government documents in physical and electronic format from 1976 to the present. To find easiest access to government information websites, start from the Government Documents Collection home page.

Familiarize yourself with the Government Information Research Guide as a whole, and then follow those leads which seem best suited to your immediate needs.

If you need help at any time, the staff of Reference Services of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library will assist you at the Reference Desk on the Main Floor, or use the Ask A Librarian service for virtual or email assistance.

If you have an inquiry specifically related to government information contact, Leonard Adams, Government Documents Librarian for service or assistance. He instructs classes and schedules individual research consultations in the use of print and online materials related to government information upon request. Contact him directly:
