Reference Materials
Reference materials provide background and quick factual information on a topic. Use the Reference Collections subset of the UMass Amherst Catalog to search for reference materials. Try either a keyword (free text natural language) search, or a subject (controlled or fixed vocabulary) search. (For example, consider Speech as a topic or subject when looking for materials on communication or communicative disorders). Below are examples of reference materials in the health sciences.
