Hypoxia in Estuaries, Lakes, and Coastal Waters

Hypoxia or "low oxygen" describes a condition in water. Hypoxia causes a severe reduction of the amount, or in in extreme cases, the complete loss of animal life in hypoxic zones. Databases
Our subscription databases index and/or provide access to articles, books, and other scholarly materials. Aquatic Sciences And Fisheries Abstracts
Citations and abstracts for articles from serial publications, books, reports, and conference proceedings published in the field of aquatic science.

Biological and Agricultural Index
Citations to articles in about 300 English-language scholarly journals on agriculture and related disciplines such as food production, nutrition, forestry, marine biology and plant pathology. Includes abstracts for recent articles from about 20% of journals covered.

CAB Abstracts
Citations and abstracts for journal articles, books, chapters, conference proceedings, and reports relating to agriculture, crop protection, forestry, the environment, biotechnology, agricultural economics, rural sociology and development, leisure, recreation and tourism, nutrition, public health, and veterinary medicine. Over 4 million records dating back to 1910.

Environmental Issues and Policy Index
Citations to articles on the environment from scientific, legal, and popular journals.

Environmental Universe
Articles from general, scholarly, and trade periodicals on all aspects of the environment, plus environmental law and regulations.

Expanded Academic ASAP
Citations, abstracts and full text articles from scholarly and general-interest periodicals relating to the humanities, social sciences, and non-technical general sciences.

GeoRef
Citations to books, periodical articles, dissertations, maps, and reports relating to geological sciences. Geology of North America is covered from 1785 to the present. Geology of the world is covered from 1933 to the present.

Science Direct
Full-text scholarly journals from the sciences and the social sciences published within the last five years.

Web of Science
Indexes scholarly journals in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities beginning in 1945.

WorldCat
Search the catalogs of thousands of libraries around the world. Material not locally owned can often be borrowed through Interlibrary Loan.

Toxic Substances Hydrology Program - Hypoxia
U.S. Geological Survey site includes definition and links to laws and information from other government agencies.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Federal government agency responsible to safeguard the natural environment---air, water, and land--upon which life depends. Search the "Wetlands, Oceans, and Watersheds" area of EPA's Web site.
