UMass Amherst Library Catalog
Search for books, journals, and other materials by author, title, subject, keyword, call number, journal title, etc. For materials on a specific subject, enter your term(s) into the Subject or Keyword search boxes. The Library of Congress Subject Headings (Z695.L695+), located near the W.E.B. Du Bois Library Reference Desk, suggests search terms (subject headings). Some examples of relevant subject headings in Native American Indian Studies follow.

The standard subject heading for the whole of native communities in North America is: Indians of North America. Related headings include Indians of Central America and Indians of South America. These broad terms return over 5000 entries, which can be browsed for more specific subheadings.

The Billie Jane Baguley Library and Archives
Comprehensive research facility that includes information about indigenous art and cultures from around the world and a resource file containing information about more than 19,000 Native American artists. Its database may be searched remotely.

Contains records for the materials of participating public, academic, school, regional, and special libraries in Central and Western Massachusetts.

Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center
The Information Resources department, which includes Archives & Special Collections, Children's Library, and Research Library, is devoted to preserving and reclaiming the cultural heritage of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation as well as preserving the histories of other Native North Americans.There is no charge for admission. You can search the catalog from anywhere and access their finding aids and indexes on the website.

The National Indian Law Library (NILL)
Public law library devoted to federal Indian and tribal law. Its mission is to develop and make accessible a unique and valuable collection of information and to assist people with their Indian law-related information needs. NILL places special emphasis on helping individuals and organizations who are working on behalf of Native Americans and have the potential to positively influence their lives.
