Special Collections and University Archives

The Special Collections and University Archives Department (Floor 25, W.E.B. Du Bois Library) contains manuscript collections; the records of many organizations, businesses, and community groups of the region; and a variety of materials that document the history of UMass Amherst. Its collections include the following which may be of interest to [SUBJECT] researchers:

Hannah Arendt Papers (Library of Congress)
Papers, correspondence, articles, lectures, speeches, book manuscripts, notes, and printed matter from her career.

Jacques Derrida Papers (UC Irvine)
Contains manuscripts, recordings, and typescripts that document the career of the deconstructionist philosopher.

IMEC Archives (IMEC)
Multi-disciplinary archive containing the works of many philososphers including Michel Foucault, Franz Fanon, and others.


Bertrand Russell Archives
(McMaster University)
Archive Containing the correspondance, photographs, medals, speeches, and tapes documenting Bertrand Russell's work.

Papers of Peter Singer, 1965-1999 (National Library of Australia)
Includes drafts and/or copies of many of his books and articles, extensive correspondance, responses to his ideas and campaigns.
