E-books

NetLibrary

NetLibrary is an online, full-text book service. Although this e-book collection contains many excellent titles and is convenient to use, it is not nearly as extensive as the Library's print holdings. E-books are not yet available on all topics.

Access to NetLibrary from off campus is available to UMass Amherst students, faculty, staff, and affiliates through their OIT account. Enter your OIT username and password when prompted. First-time users must set up an account. In NetLibrary, select "Create a Free Account," and then provide a username and password. Thereafter, connect from anywhere.

Type your subject in the "Subject" line, then click "Search." You can also search by the title or author of the book.

Finding E-books Through the Library Catalog

In addition to searching NetLibrary, use the Library Catalog's Advanced Search screen to find E-books from any source, available in full text through the Library's subscriptions.

For example,  to find E-books on algebra from the Advanced Search in UMA catalog

   1.   Select Keywords Anywhere
(use Title Keywords or Subject Keywords for a narrower search)

   2.   Put algebra in the search box

   3.   Then limit your search to E-books -
         a.  Click the Format drop-down box (lower part of the page)
         b.  Select E-Books format
         c.  Click on GO

This search produces a list of E-books with algebra somewhere in the record, listed with the most recently published books first.

See your friendly neighborhood science, engineering, and mathematics librarians for more assistance!
