Citations and abstracts to journal articles and books in sociology and related disciplines (anthropology, economics, education, medicine, philosophy, social psychology, etc.) from 2500 journals in 30 languages, 1963 to present. Also included are abstracts of sociological conference papers, relevant dissertation listings, and citations to book reviews.

CAB Abstracts
Indexes books, articles, conference proceedings, annual reports, etc. on agricultural literature in the broadest sense. Of particular interest to sociology is the indexing of materials on rural sociology and development, and tourism, especially in developing countries. Covers 1990 to the present.

Ethnic Newswatch
A searchable collection of full-text articles from the newspapers, magazines and journals of ethnic communities in the United States, 1990 to the present. Most articles are in English, but those from Hispanic periodicals are in Spanish.

Expanded Academic Index ASAP
References to articles in more than 1500 scholarly journals and general interest magazines in the social sciences, humanities, and non-technical sciences. 1980 to the present. Many articles in full-text. Useful especially to identify very current publications in major academic journals and general magazines. Includes book reviews. Retrieval can be limited to peer review academic titles.

Lexix-Nexis Academic Universe
A huge web-based full-text news and information service with date coverage from 1980-present. Of the five sections, the most useful for sociology probably are: News (hundreds of newspapers from all over the world in full text), and Reference (biographical information, country profiles, polls and surveys supplied by the Roper Public Opinion Organization, quotations, state profiles, and the World Almanac). The other sections are: Business, Legal, and Medical.

PAIS International
Especially useful to identify literature on public and social policy worldwide. It includes citations to and abstracts of journal articles, books, government documents, internet sites, statistical compilations, directories, and reports of public, private and intergovernmental organizations, 1972 to the present.

Population Index
The database contains 46,035 abstracts of demographic literature published in Population Index between 1986 and 1999. Materials indexed include books, journal articles, working papers, and other materials on population topics. The database will not be updated in the forseeable future.

Statistical Universe
Identifies by citation and abstract statistical information from the U.S. federal government (1973- ), state governments and private organizations (1980- ), and international and intergovernmental organizations (1983- ). Some records include a link to the full text, for others check the Library's catalog. A second file available is the full text of the current issue of the Statistical Abstract of the United States.

STAT-USA
A service of the U.S. Department of Commerce that provides business, economic, and trade information from the Federal Government. There are three sections: State of the Nation, National Trade Data Bank (NTDB), and GLOBUS (Global Business Opportunities). The State of the Nation provides current and historical data on the U.S. domestic economy. Economic indicators included are General (consumer prices, producer prices, gross domestic product, national income), Housing and Construction, Employment, Manufacturing and Industry, Monetary Statistics, and Economic Policy.

Social Sciences Citation Index
Bibliographic and citation data for more than 1,725 journals in the social sciences 1993 to the present. Part of the Web of Science database. Contains searchable author abstracts form approximately 60% of the articles in the database. Especially useful in identifying by citation search, who is currently refering to specific older articles.
