-====== Serials New Titles ======
-
-**SERIALS**
-
--Download OCLC copy into Aleph and make printout. If not found in OCLC, give to cataloger to create original record.
-
--If record is in OCLC and has 856 field with url, delete it. Check the fastcat standards list for serials [[serials_new_titles|on the Series Title Changes]] page. Add 928 field (AUTHORITY) and 910 field, [initials] [date]. A 930 field is NOT needed if LHR is made. Create LHR in OCLC.
-
--In Aleph, attach order record with budget code, method of acquisitions, vendor, order group, etc. (Gifts do NOT need an order record.)
-
--Create item with sublibrary, collection, material type, item status, process status and link.
-
--In subscription info. [1.], enter sublibrary, collection, item status, order number, from/to date, delivery type.  Add bind mark instructions and any notes needed for receiving in check in note.
-
--Make HOL record UGEN, add 866 field with what we have. Add any notes for public view in 952 field, any notes for staff in 590 field.
-
-
-**PERIODICALS**
-
-For cataloguers of original records:
-
-We add **Per** to the end of the call number. Create the call number as you normally would in the 050. Once the record is exported from OCLC, look up the record in Aleph and follow the steps below:
-  * add a new 090 field below the 050
-  * subfields a and b will be the same call number as from the 050
-  * add subfield k Per
-
-Create holding record. Check that the 852 has subfields h and i for the call number, and also subfield m Per. This allows the Per suffix to be printed on the label that is affixed to the periodical. If you have questions or need to see an example, ask the serials specialist (Diana Pacunas).
-
-For the serials specialist:
-
--Download OCLC copy into Aleph and make printout. If not found in OCLC, give to cataloger to create original record.
-
--If record is in OCLC, and has 856 field with url, delete it. Add 928 field (AUTHORITY) and 910 field, [initials] [date]. A 930 field is NOT needed if LHR is made. Create LHR in OCLC.
-
--In Aleph, attach order record.
-
--In subscription info. [1.], enter sublibrary, collection, item status, order number, from date/to date, delivery type. In subscription info. [2], check the "print label" box and select yes for "send claims". Enter claim dates, binding instructions in note field and other notes needed for receiving.
-
--Make an HOL record with UPER. Add subfield m, “Per” to the call number in 852.  Add 866 field reflecting what we have, create a [[serials_prediction_patterns|prediction pattern]], and “open all” for expected issues.  Make sure HOL record is linked to sub. record.
-
--Add any notes for public view in 952 field, subfield z, and any notes for staff in 590 field.
-
--Label an orange box, receive issues and send to stacks.  For science titles, send over with a note saying new title and they will label their own box.
