Grad Commons Mac Laptop Printer Setup

To print from your Mac laptop to the Xerox Printer/Copier located just outside of the fifth floor Graduate Commons you will need to install the Xerox printer driver and the Pharos Popup client. You can optionally install a driver for the library’s monochrome printer and the libraries color printer. Those printers are located in the Learning Commons on the lower level of the W.E.B. DuBois Library.

Guide:

  • Download Printer Driver and Pharos Popup client (required)
  • Install Xerox Print Driver (required)
  • Install LC Color 7130 Printer (optional)
  • Install LC Black & White Printer (optional)
  • Install Pharos Popup client (required)

Required – Download Printer driver and PharosPopup client

  1. Go to www.library.umass.edu/locations/graduate-commons.
  2. On the right, click the link Mac GC Print Driver.
  3. Go to your download folder/downloaded files (should be in the bottom right, next to the trash can by default).
  4. Select Open in Finder.

Required – Install Xerox Print Driver

  1. Double-click PopupDriver-9.0.8.dmg.
  2. Double-click XeroxPrintDriver_3.123.0_1865.dmg.
  3. Double-click Xerox Print Driver 3.123.0.pkg (box icon)
  4. When prompted to continue the installation, click the blue Continue button.
  5. Click continue on Introduction.
  6. Click Continue on the License, and then click Agree.
  7. On Installation Type, click Install.
  8. If not on an Administrator account, you will be prompted for the login information to an account with Administrator access, type in the information and login to install.
  9. When on Select Printer, no printer will be found yet, you need to click Continue and then on the popup for Print Queue Not Created, click Continue again.
  10. When the installation completes, it will say “The installation was successful.” Click Close.
  11. Exit out of the folder for the Xerox Print Driver.

Optional - LC Color 7130 Printer Driver (continue from PopupDriver-9.0.8.dmg from Xerox Print Driver)

  1. Double-click Printer_7130cdn_Driver_Dell_A02_Mac (1).dmg
  2. When prompted to continue the installation, click the blue Continue button.
  3. Click continue on Introduction.
  4. On Installation Type, click Install.
  5. If not on an Administrator account, you will be prompted for the login information to an account with Administrator access, type in the information and login to install.
  6. When on Select Printer, no printer will be found yet, you need to click Continue and then on the popup for Print Queue Not Created, click Continue again.
  7. When the installation completes, it will say “The installation was successful.” Click Close.
  8. Exit out of the folder for the Dell 7130 Driver.

Optional - LC Black & White Printer Driver (continue from PopupDriver-9.0.8.dmg from Xerox Print Driver)

  1. To install the black and white printer for the Learning Commons, go back to the folder with all of the .dmg files and Popup.pkg, and double-click DellPrinterS583dn_2.0.0 (2).dmg.
  2. When prompted to open, click Open.
  3. Click Continue on Introduction.
  4. Click Continue on License, and then click Agree.
  5. On Installation Type, click Install.
  6. If not on an Administrator account, you will be prompted for the login information to an account with Administrator access, type in the information and login to install.
  7. When the installation completes, it will say “The installation was successful.” Click Close.
  8. Exit out of the folder for the Dell Printer S5830dn.

Required - Pharos Popup (continue from PopupDriver-9.0.8.dmg from Xerox Print Driver)

  1. Double-click Popup.pkg.
  2. Click Continue on Introduction.
  3. Click Continue on Read Me.
  4. Click Install on Installation Type.
  5. If not on an Administrator account, you will be prompted for the login information to an account with Administrator access, type in the information and login to install.
  6. When the installation completes, it will say “The installation was successful.” Click Close.
