Encoding transcriptions

We are using a very simple TEI template to encode the transcriptions from “The Correspondence of W. E. B. Du Bois.” The complete transcriptions are in r:/dubois_projects/dubois_digitization/metadata/dubois_ocr. Each volume is in its own text file.

The transcriptions are encoding using the TEI template for correspondence. The template file is available in r:/dubois_projects/dubois_digitization/metadata/mods/tempaltes but the best way to use it is through oXygen. Simply open a new file, select the “From template” tab and choose the tei-corres template:

From there, you can cut and paste into the template from the original transcription text file.

The TEI files should be saved using the same naming scheme but with -tei appended at the end. For example:

mums312-b001-i001-tei.xml
