The Mentoring Steering Committee will pair a librarian with a colleague who is seeking the benefits of a mentoring relationship.

This includes but is not limited to assistance for new librarians in understanding the library and university organizational structures, assistance in preparing for promotion and advice on professional development opportunities.

Any UMass Amherst librarian or classified staff member who is interested in attending library school or pursuing librarianship as a career is eligible to ask for a mentor.

A request for a mentor may be submitted at any time during the year.
