With generous grants from the Verizon Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities, SCUA embarked on a project to digitize the papers of W.E.B. Du Bois. With 368 boxes, or nearly 165 linear feet of correspondence, essays, lectures, and notes to scan, the project is truly a massive undertaking. When complete, however, Du Bois Online will be one of the largest, freely available online repositories of primary materials for the study of African American history and culture. We anticipate that the Du Bois Online repository will open to the public during the summer 2011, and from that point forward, newly scanned items will be added regularly until the project is complete.
While Du Bois Online is under development, we will post periodic updates on the progress of the digitization, with samples of some of the treasures to be found.

This is a wonderful resource for scholars and students of Du Bois. Thank you and those who made the project possible.
