UMass Amherst Libraries Host Exhibit, “Mass Produced: A Century of Patents and Trademarks from Western Mass”

The UMass Amherst Libraries are hosting a new exhibit, “Invented Here: A Century of Patents and Trademarks from Western Massachusetts,” from September 1 through December 19, 2025, in the Science and Engineering Library. The exhibit is free and open to the public for viewing during regular library hours. A reception for the exhibit will take place on Thursday, September 17, 4-6 p.m., in the Science and Engineering Library.
This exhibit showcases a collection of historical patents and trademarks originating from Western Massachusetts, spanning over 100 years of creativity and entrepreneurship. Each item reflects the region’s creative depth and impact of local inventors and businesses. Curated by the Western Massachusetts Patent and Trademark Resource Center, the exhibit explores themes of automotive engineering, tooling, recreation, and paper manufacturing—fields in which the region has made lasting contributions.
