Location
Overview
(Req, Rep, TGN/LOC Authorities)
The Location field group consists of 6 fields. This is where to record geographic associations for the work. Questions to ask yourself:
- Where is it now?
- Where was it before?
- Where was it made?
- Where was it discovered?
Fields
Location
This a field to record the desired display for location values. No matter what thesaurus is used to create a location record the disired formula for the display location is, “City, State”, “City, Province”, or “City, Country”. Location information can also be included in the subject field in the case where a work of art depicts an actual place. See the Subject field for more information.
Location name variant
This field allows to record alternate phrases or terms for locations. Often the Thesauri will provide possible variants.
Location type
Try to limit the location types to the following values. Current, Creation, Discovery, Former. If these do not work for the work your cataloging, see Brian or Steve.
Location refid source
Record here the Thesaurus used to create the Location Record. TGN/LOC Authorities

Record here the refid from the Thesaurus for the record.
