RAPID

To be run twice a year (Jan and July)

Below are the instructions for generating and sending print holdings for serials and monographs to RAPID. For instructions on sending electronic journal holdings to RAPID see the Generating the E-Journal Holdings File for ILL page.

ILL generates their own files via HLM for eResources. See instructions on the HLM Admin page

* see new script, /exlibris/aleph/u22_1/uma50/scripts/extract_rapid_print_journals, which substitutes for steps 1) and 2) below

  1. Run: /exlibris/aleph/u22_1/uma50/local/ils/getrapid/getrapidserials Output: …fcl01/scratch/umrapid<yyyymmdd>s.mrc
  2. Upload to Rapid site:
    • Holdings Format: Journals
    • If this is a file from your OPAC, which one do you use? : Ex Libris Aleph
    • Holdings Type: Print
    • File Type: MARC
    • Confirmation Email Address: [your email address]
    • Click “Upload” and select file.

  1. Get list of bib numbers from Rick - this is usually in 4 files because of the size of the file.
  2. Open file and remove header line and double quotes.
  3. Use Retrieve Catalog Records/Download Machine-Readable Records (p_print_03) to output MARC records:
  4. For each file enter the following:
    1. * Input File: [name of file from Rick] (alephe/scratch - no uppercase letters in filenames)
    2. * Output File: [name of output file] (FCL01/scratch)
    3. * Field 1 + Indicator: #####
    4. * Format: MARC
    5. * Fix Routine: None
    6. * Expand Routine: PR-REC-I
    7. Character Conversion: None
    8. Export deleted records?: No
    9. Library: FCL01
  5. Download records from Aleph server
  6. Upload to Rapid site:
    • Holdings Format: Books
    • If this is a file from your OPAC, which one do you use? : Ex Libris Aleph
    • Holdings Type: Print
    • File Type: MARC
    • Confirmation Email Address: [your email address]
    • Click “Upload” and select file.
